HOLY COW! (No joke here!)

On Sunday February 4th, 2018, I had the privilege to participate in the Nambour, Queensland, C Square, first Sunshine Coast Vegan Market organised in conjunction with Queensland Animal Rights Party. Henceforth, the market is to be held every first Sunday of the month. It is definitely worth a visit. I was amazed by and am thankful for the red tape free admission. As the atmosphere is free from the heavy karma associated with meat eating, it is excellent. So is the reception of Krishna consciousness, with many Bhagavad-Gita As It Is by Srila Prabhupada, Krishna books, cookbooks, including Raje’s “With Love” vegan cookbook and other titles distributed. A big “Thank you very much” for the organizers. I also have to thank the nice vegan couple, Nyla and Tom, I met during my morning walk and who informed me about this event. Hare Krishna!

“As will be clear in the chapters ahead, Mahäräja Pariksit wanted to kill the personified Kali, who was attempting to kill

a cow, the emblem of peace and religion.

The symptoms of Kali are (1) wine, (2) women, (3) gambling and (4) slaughterhouses. Wise rulers of all states should take lessons from Mahäräja Pariksit in how to maintain peace and morality by subduing the upstarts and quarrelsome people who indulge in wine, illicit connection with women, gambling and meat-eating supplied by regularly maintained slaughterhouses. In this Age of Kali, regular license is issued for maintaining all of these different departments of quarrelsome people. So how can they expect peace and morality in the state? The state fathers, therefore, must follow the principles of becoming wiser by devotion to the Lord, by chastising the breaker of discipline and by uprooting the symptoms of quarrel, as mentioned above. If we want blazing fire, we must use dry fuel. Blazing fire and moist fuel go ill together. Peace and morality can prosper only by the principles of Mahäräja Pariksit and his followers.”

This is a quote (as well as the following quotes) from Srila Prabhupada’s translation and commentary on the Srimad Bhagavam (SB), the transcendental Purana, out of the eighteen Puranas. It is from Canto 1, chapter 12, verse 26, purport.

“The bull is the emblem of the moral principle, and the cow is the representative of the earth. When the bull and the cow are in a joyful mood, it is to be understood that the people of the world are also in a joyful mood. The reason is that the bull helps production of grains in the agricultural field and the cow delivers milk, the miracle of aggregate food values. The human society, therefore, maintains these two important animals very carefully so that they can wander everywhere in cheerfulness. But at the present moment in this Age of Kali both the bull and the cow are now being slaughtered and eaten up as foodstuff by a class of men who do not know the brahminical culture. The bull and the cow can be protected for the good of all human society simply by the spreading of brahminical culture as the topmost perfection of all cultural affairs.” SB 1.16.18, purport.

“The next symptom of the Age of Kali is the distressed condition of the cow. Milking the cow means drawing the principles of religion in a liquid form. The great rishis and munis would live only on milk.” SB 1.17.03, purport.

“Païca-gavya, the five products received from the cow, namely milk, yogurt, ghee, cow dung and cow urine, are required in all ritualistic ceremonies performed according to the Vedic directions. Cow urine and cow dung are uncontaminated, and since even the urine and dung of a cow are important, we can just imagine how important this animal is for human civilization. Therefore the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna, directly advocates go-rakshya, the protection of cows.”     SB 8.8.11, purport.

“Guest: We can take care of cows, can’t we?
Prabhupäda: You should. Otherwise you are ungrateful. You are drinking milk, you are taking so much butter, milk product, and as gratitude you are killing cows? You should be ashamed. Even if you have no human feelings. You suck the breast of your mother and kill? Is that humanity?” 681227BG.LA

My personal remark:

Because she gives milk, the miracle and primeval food, cow is mother and a lady.

To all those concerned: Why are you attacking, killing and eating respectable and defenceless ladies or in any way taking part in such a ghastly process, you cowards?!!!

What kind of barbarism is this???

Why don’t you go and ride a bull instead and meet your match?

Hare Krishna.
