PRABHUPADA’s QUOTE OF THE DAY and literary expertise. SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM 7.13.25 and 7.13. 29 respectively.

Our Krsna consciousness movement is therefore the highest movement for the benediction of human society because this movement is teaching people how to go back home, back to Godhead. In Bhagavad-gita (13.22) it is clearly stated that different forms of life are obtained by association with the three modes of material nature (karanam guna-sango ‘sya sad-asad-yoni janmasu). According to one’s association with the material qualities of goodness, passion and ignorance in this life, in one’s next life one receives an appropriate body. Modern civilization does not know that because of varied associations in material nature, the living entity, although eternal, is placed in different diseased conditions known as the many species of life. Modern civilization is unaware of the laws of nature.

prakrteh kriyamanani
gunaih karmani sarvasah
ahankara-vimudhatma
kartaham iti manyate

“The bewildered spirit soul, under the influence of the three modes of material nature, thinks himself the performer of activities that are in actuality carried out by nature.” (Bg. 3.27) Every living entity is under the full control of the stringent laws of material nature, but rascals think themselves independent. Actually, however, they cannot be independent. This is foolishness. A foolish civilization is extremely risky, and therefore the Krsna consciousness movement is trying to make people aware of their fully dependent condition under the stringent laws of nature and is trying to save them from being victimized by strong maya, which is Krsna’s external energy. Behind the material laws is the supreme controller, Krsna (mayadhyaksena prakrtih suyate sacaracaram [Bg. 9.10]). Therefore if one surrenders unto Krsna (mam eva ye prapadyante mayam etam taranti te [Bg. 7.14]), one may immediately be freed from the control of external nature (sa gunan samatityaitan brahma-bhuyaya kalpate [Bg. 14.26]). This should be the aim of life.”

Because it deals with the true and common essentials of life that God, Krishna, is a reality and that every living being is part and parcel of Krishna just as the drop of ocean water is part and parcel of the ocean, Srila Prabhupada’s Vani can and will give shelter to the whole world. It is only a matter of advertisement or to use a more Vaishya expression: it is only a matter of marketing. Srila Prabhupada has kindly given us the goods. Now it is a matter of convincing others only.

We also note that on such occasions, Srila Prabhupada uses the expression “our Krishna consciousness movement.” He does not say our “International Society for Krishna consciousness,” which means that the Krishna consciousness movement is larger than the mere ISKCON and includes ISKCON in any case. It also means that in all cases, Srila Prabhupada is the seed and initiator of the modern Krishna consciousness movement.

Srila Prabhupada literary expertise.

In SB 7.13.29 we find:

“The life, or the spiritual soul, is compared herein to water, from which clumps of matter grow in the form of grass. One who is ignorant of scientific knowledge of the spirit soul does not look inside the body to find happiness in the soul; instead, he goes outside to search for happiness, just as a deer without knowledge of the water beneath the grass goes out to the desert to find water.”

“Clumps of matter”sounds like “chunks of matter” or “lumps of matter” or some other vague, collective, all-encompassing expression. But the dictionary confirms that “clump” is precisely the word needed here as follows:

clump | klʌmp | noun 1 a small group of trees or plants growing closely together: a clump of ferns. • a small, compact group of people: they sat on the wall in clumps of two and three. • a compacted mass or lump of something: clumps of earth. • Physiology an agglutinated mass of blood cells or bacteria, especially as an indicator of the presence of an antibody to them.

One has to be quite a sharp observer of the world, as well as an expert linguist to use precisely the right word in every situation, just as Srila Prabhupada is practicing.

It also confirms that Srila Prabhupada is my superior and Guru because even though I have been reading Him for 50 years, He is still teaching me new English vocabulary. I offer my prostrated obeisances (dandavats) at His holy feet. Jai Srila Prabhupada!

Another significant expression here is “the scientific knowledge of the spirit soul.” Krishna consciousness is not sentimental speculation. It is just as scientific as physics or chemistry. It is so because ultimately it emanates from the Supreme. It emanates from the Manufacturer just as the owner’s car manual is produced by the vehicle manufacturer and is therefore considered reliable and scientific.

For “science”the dictionary gives:

“science | ˈsʌɪəns | noun [mass noun] the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment: the world of science and technology.”

Bhagavad-gita As It Is 2.42-43. Illegal dealings and usurpation of power.

BGAII 2.42-23 It is known by now that both editors do not like Srila Prabhupada’s perfectly adequate expression “Poor fund of knowledge” and that is their prerogative. But to have the audacity to replace it with their own “small knowledge” (no word play here) is illegal and an outright affront to Srila Prabhupada. It also represents an usurpation of power. These types of dealings are serious matters with dire consequences for everyone. The same Guru Aparadha is repeated in the first sentence of the purport where “poor fund of knowledge” now becomes “ignorance.”

BIIIIIIIIG, HUUUUUUUGE Mistake! Bhagavad-gita As It Is 6.47

The key lies in the preposition. The preposition makes all the difference. In the Original Transcript (OT), we literally read: “Of all yoga practitioners, he who is always abiding by Me within Himself, great in faith, and rendering transcendental loving service unto Me, is the highest of all yogis.”

In the Bhagavad-gita As Is It NOT by Jayadvaita it becomes: “And of all yogis, the one with great faith who always abides in Me, thinks of Me within himself……..” and in the Bhagavad-gita As It Is NOT by Hayagriva it becomes: ” And of all yogis, he who always abides in Me with great faith, worshiping Me in transcendental loving service……..” Both versions are wrong and engender the same conditioned disease: Unwillingness to surrender to the Supreme Lord.

Now let us scutinizingly examine the following dictionary quote:

abide | əˈbʌɪd | verb1 [no object] (abide by) accept or act in accordance with (a rule, decision, or recommendation): I said I would abide by their decision. 2 [with object] (can/could not abide) informal be unable to tolerate (someone or something): if there is one thing I cannot abide it is a lack of discipline. 3 [no object] (of a feeling or memory) continue without fading or being lost: at least one memory will abide. • archaic live; dwell: many unskilful Men do abide in our City of London

We may conclude that “abide in” is an archaic verb and means live or dwell, which, figuratively, will make sense in the context of BGAII 6.47, even though we would rather not use archaisms.

BUT, BUT, BUT “abide in” represents a betrayal of the original text. There is no question of “abide in” here. The verb used is “abide by.” And what is the main connotation of “abide by?” The main connotation of “abide by” is TO OBEY. Just like on some T-shirts, we see only these four letters O, B, E and Y, which makes OBEY!!! An unequivocal message. This is confirmed in BGAII 2.41: “As such, to be well versed in Krsna consciousness one has to act firmly in obedience of the representative of Krsna and one should accept the instruction of the spiritual master as one’s mission of life.”

That means “obey” is the issue and not “dwelling.” But the editors have cleverly, surreptitiously and subversively avoided the issue by substituting “abide by” with the archaic “abide in” and thereby are misleading the whole world. This is a typical subterfuge of the conditioned soul. We are happy to pretend to rub shoulders with Krishna, but under no circumstances shall we surrender to the demands of Sri Krishna or the Spiritual Master. This is simply not possible. It is another illusion. It is another cheating process. Without undergoing the surrendering process, we shall never rub shoulders with Krishna, just as without accepting and surrendering to the university conditions we shall never become a graduate.

We suggest the final rendition for Bhagavad-gita As It Is 6.47 will be:

“Of all yoga practitioners, he who always abides by Me within himself with great faith and renders transcendental loving service unto Me, he is the highest of all yogis.”

We note that in Shastra, in most cases even the sternest messages are transmitted in an innocuous fashion, and as much as destinies are subsequently made. It is up to the reader or hearer to evaluate the situation properly. A good example is the exchange between Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Vallabhacarya: Caitanya Caritamrta, Antya Lila, Chapter 7, entitled Lord Caitanya meets Vallabha Bhatta. No boisterous verbal exchanges here. But “Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu smilingly replied, “One who does not accept the svami [husband] as an authority I consider a prostitute.” CC Antya 7.115

This editorial problem was spotted at 4 AM on the 18 day of April 2022. And consequently, I almost came late for Mangal Aratik. And in Deity worship punctuality is crucial and essential. But when I arrived at the Brisbane ISKCON temple there was another problem. For some unknown reason, the temple floor was unusually dirty and the head pujari also expressed her disappointment and lassitude for this type of problem. It is the responsibility of those who dirtied the floor the previous night, or their supervisors in the case of children, to leave the place in a spotless condition. Please oblige and have some consideration for the Mangal Arati pujaris and attendants as well.

I repeat it again and again and again: strictly speaking, none of these two versions of Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita qualifies to be called Bhagavad-gita As It Is by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. These are mere shadows of Bhagavad-gita As It Is and we are standing on shaky and unstable grounds. Both versions are too far removed from Srila Prabhupada’s original intentions, which are best reflected in the Original Transcript, (OT). This OT document however, or at least some parts of it, for various reasons are not easy to handle at all. It can be found here: https://bookchanges.com/bhagavad-gita-as-it-is-manuscript/. Thank you for your wisdom!

EXPAND!!! EXPAND TOWARDS THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THOUSANDS OF CAITANYA MAHAPRABHU TEMPLES IN AUSTRALIA AND AROUND THE WORLD, AS EXPECTED AND PREDICTED BY SRILA PRABHUPADA IN HIS LETTER OF DECEMBER 31st, 1975!

The splendid, world standard, ISKCON (our parent organization) Mayapur temple, West Bengal, India, due for completion in 2024. https://tovp.org

Bombay

31 December, 1975

My Dear Madhudvisa Maharaja,

Please accept my blessings. Thank you for your nice invitation card. Thousands of Caitanya Mahaprabhu temples may be established all over Australia so that I may receive one invitation card at least every month. Physical health does not allow me to move very much, but my mind is absorbed in thinking of you with blessings of Krishna.

I hope this letter finds you well.

Your ever well-wisher,

A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

__________________________________________________________________________

Dear Maharajas, Prabhus and Mothers,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to our greatest Srila Prabhupada!

The Australian Society for Krishna Culture is endeavoring to acquire an Ashram strategically located in Far North Queensland (FNQ), one of the best and most scenic places in Australia, especially in wintertime.

The Australian Society for Krishna Culture (Auskculture) is based strictly on Prabhupada-Vani and is a bona fide and authorized preaching institution because Srila Prabhupada writes in Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.13.34. P. “A sannyasi (read “preacher”) should have an institution meant to preach Krsna consciousness; he need not accumulate money for himself. We recommend that as soon as money accumulates in our Krsna consciousness movement, fifty percent of it should be invested in printing books, and fifty percent for expenditures, especially in establishing centers all over the world.”

The Australian Society for Krishna Culture is a fully integrated part and parcel of Srila Prabhupada’s “Krishna consciousness movement,” in the broader sense of the expression. Srila Prabhupada’s expression “Krishna consciousness movement” need not exclusively designate His International Society for Krishna Consciousness or ISKCON. We suggest that it includes all organizations strictly based on Prabhupada-Vani, including those who do not officially depend on ISKCON’s GBC. Prabhupada-Vani stands above everyone, including ISKCON’s Governing Body Commission. In an even broader sense, since the advent of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu 500 years ago, the Krishna conciousness movement has got hundreds of branches as explained in the Caitanya Caritamrta, Adi-lila, chapter 10. We are concerned with the A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada branch, which also happens to be the Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya sampradaya.

So what is the meaning of all this? The meaning is that Srila Prabhupada is such a powerful yogi, Acarya, and Brahmin that all His words come true under different circumstances and in due course of time. Auskculture will fit positively into His criticism of the ISKCON managers of the seventies when an attempt toward centralization and consequently extra bureaucracy was attempted. Auskculture sets an example and fits very snuggly into Srila Prabhupada’s wishes that:”. Krishna Consciousness Movement is for training men to be independently thoughtful and competent in all types of departments of knowledge and action,……..)

And this would also have to be one of the main reasons why Sri Krishna did not allow the merger between Auskculture and ISKCON Australia to take place when such a confidential attempt was made in the second part of the last year 2021.

Here is an extract of the letter 72.12.22let.Karandhara

My dear Karandhara,

…………………………

Regarding your points about taxation, corporate status, etc., I have heard from Jayatirtha you want to make big plan for centralization of management, taxes, monies, corporate status, bookkeeping, credit, like that. I do not at all approve of such plan. Do not centralize anything. Each temple must remain independent and self-sufficient. That was my plan from the very beginning, why you are thinking otherwise? Once before you wanted to do something centralizing with your GBC meeting, and if I did not interfere the whole thing would have been killed. Do not think in this way of big corporation, big credits, centralization—these are all nonsense proposals. Only thing I wanted was that books printing and distribution should be centralized, therefore I appointed you and Bali Mardan to do it. Otherwise, management, everything, should be done locally by local men. Accounts must be kept, things must be in order and lawfully done, but that should be each temple’s concern, not yours. Krishna Consciousness Movement is for training men to be independently thoughtful and competent in all types of departments of knowledge and action, not for making bureaucracy. Once there is bureaucracy the whole thing will be spoiled. There must be always individual striving and work and responsibility, competitive spirit, not that one shall dominate and distribute benefits to the others and they do nothing but beg from you and you provide. No. Never mind there may be botheration to register each centre, take tax certificate each, become separate corporations in each state. That will train men how to do these things, and they shall develop reliability and responsibility, that is the point. I am little observing now, especially in your country, that our men are losing their enthusiasm for spreading on our programmes of Krishna Consciousness movement. Otherwise, why so many letters of problems are coming, dissatisfied? That is not a very good sign. The whole problem is they are not following the regulative principles, that I can detect. Without this, enthusiasm will be lacking. Even mechanically following, and if he gets gradually understanding from the class, he will come to the point of spontaneous enthusiasm. This spontaneous loving devotional service is not so easy matter, but if one simply sticks strictly to the rules and regulations, like rising early, chanting 16 rounds, chanting gayatri, keeping always clean—then his enthusiasm will grow more and more, and if there is also patience and determination, one day he will come to the platform of spontaneous devotion, then his life will be perfect. All of this I have told you in Nectar of Devotion. So I do not think the leaders are themselves following, nor they are seeing the others are following strictly. That must be rectified at once. Each centre remain independent, that’s all right, but the president and other officers must themselves follow and see the others are following the regulative principles carefully, and giving them good instruction so they may understand nicely why this tapasya is necessary. And GBC and Sannyasis will travel and see the officers are doing this, and if they observe anything lowering of the standard, they must reform and advise, or if there is some discrepancy I shall remove it. Of course, if new men are coming, they may not be expected immediately to take to our regulative principles cent per cent. Therefore we should not be so anxious to induce them to live in the temple. Anyone who lives in the temple must agree to follow the rules and regulations without fail. So if some new man moves in with us he may become discouraged if he is forced in this way. Therefore let them live outside and become gradually convinced in the class why they should accept some austerity, then they will live with us out of their own accord and follow nicely everything. It is very difficult to give up very quickly so many bad habits as you have got in your country, so educate them gradually, first with chanting, and do not be so much anxious to count up so many numbers of new devotees, if such devotees go away later being too early forced. I want to see a few sincere devotees, not many false devotees or pretenders.

So my point is that the regulative principles must be followed by everyone. Otherwise their enthusiasm dwindles and they again think of sex and become restless, and so many problems are there. There is some symptom of missing the point. The point is to be engaged in doing something for Krishna, never mind what is that job, but being so engaged in doing something very much satisfying to the devotee that he remains always enthusiastic. He will automatically follow the regulative principles because they are part of his occupational duty—by applying them practically as his occupational duty, he realizes the happy result of regulative principles. So the future of this Krishna Consciousness movement is very bright, so long the managers remain vigilant that 16 rounds are being chanted by everyone without fail, that they are all rising before four morning, attending mangal arati—our leaders shall be careful not to kill the spirit of enthusiastic service, which is individual and spontaneous and voluntary. They should try always to generate some atmosphere of fresh challenge to the devotees, so that they will agree enthusiastically to rise and meet it. That is the art of management: to draw out spontaneous loving spirit of sacrificing some energy for Krishna. But where are so many expert managers? All of us should become expert managers and preachers. We should not be very much after comforts and become complacent or self-contented. There must be always some tapasya, strictly observing the regulative principles—Krishna Consciousness movement must be always a challenge, a great achievement to be gained by voluntary desire to do it, and that will keep it healthy. So you big managers now try to train up more and more some competent preachers and managers like yourselves. Forget this centralizing and bureaucracy.

Hoping this meets you in good health.

Your ever well-wisher,

A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

BGAII 1.30, purport. Here is an example how Srila Prabhupada’s editors literally savaged Srila Prabhupada’s literary perfection.

The coolest person ever: His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder of the international Hare Krishna movement. New York 1966.

Srila Prabhupada means:

“Due to his impatience, Arjuna was unable to stay on the battlefield and he was forgetting himself on account of the weakness of his mind. Excessive attachment for material things puts a man in such bewildering condition of existence. Bhayam dvitiyabhinivesatah syat, (Bhagavatam 11.2.37): such fearfulness and loss of mental equilibrium take place in persons who are too much affected by material conditions and therefore Arjuna envisioned only painful reverses in the battlefield, namely he was not going to be happy even by gaining victory over the enemy. The words “nimittani viparitani” are significant. When a man sees frustration in some expectation he thinks, “Why I am here?” Everyone’s selfishness is self-centred. No one is interested in the supreme selfishness of Krishna. Arjuna is supposed to show such ignorance of selfishness by the will of Krishna. The real selfishness is Vishnu. The conditioned soul forgets it and therefore suffers the symptoms of bodily derelictions. Arjuna thought that his victory in the battle would be cause of lamentation for him.”

In the 1972 edition, Hayagriva gives:

“Due to his impatience, Arjuna was unable to stay on the battlefield, and he was forgetting himself on account of the weakness of his mind. Excessive attachment for material things puts a man in a bewildering condition of existence. Bhayam dvitiyabhinivesatah: such fearfulness and loss of mental equilibrium take place in persons who are too affected by material conditions. Arjuna envisioned only unhappiness in the battlefield — he would not be happy even by gaining victory over the foe. The word nimitta is significant. When a man sees only frustration in his expectations, he thinks, “Why am I here?” Everyone is interested in himself and his own welfare. No one is interested in the Supreme Self. Arjuna is supposed to show disregard for self-interest by submission to the will of Krsna, who is everyone’s real self-interest. The conditioned soul forgets this, and therefore suffers material pains. Arjuna thought that his victory in the battle would only be a cause of lamentation for him.”

Jayadvaita gives:

“Due to his impatience, Arjuna was unable to stay on the battlefield, and he was forgetting himself on account of this weakness of his mind. Excessive attachment for material things puts a man in such a bewildering condition of existence. Bhayam dvitiyabhinivesatah syat (SB 11.2.37): such fearfulness and loss of mental equilibrium take place in persons who are too affected by material conditions. Arjuna envisioned only painful reverses in the battlefield — he would not be happy even by gaining victory over the foe. The words nimittani viparitani are significant. When a man sees only frustration in his expectations, he thinks, “Why am I here?” Everyone is interested in himself and his own welfare. No one is interested in the Supreme Self. Arjuna is showing ignorance of his real self-interest by Krsna’s will. One’s real self-interest lies in Visnu, or Krsna. The conditioned soul forgets this, and therefore suffers material pains. Arjuna thought that his victory in the battle would only be a cause of lamentation for him.”

Let us focus on the expression “therefore suffers the symptoms of bodily derelictions”

As definition my I-dictionary gives:

dereliction | dɛrəˈlɪkʃ(ə)n | noun [mass noun] 1 the state of having been abandoned and become dilapidated: a 15th-century farmhouse has been saved from dereliction

As synonyms it gives:

more buildings were reclaimed from dereliction: dilapidation, disrepair, decrepitude, deterioration, ruin, rack and ruin; abandonment, neglect, disuse, desertion, rejection, forsaking.

We could easily say:”therefore suffers the symptoms of bodily dilapidation” or “therefore suffers the symptoms of bodily decrepitude” and “therefore suffers the symptoms of bodily deterioration.”

Dilapidation, decrepitude and deterioration, these three words, among others, are given as synonyms for dereliction. We may therefore conclude that Srila Prabhupada’s choice of the word “dereliction” is just perfect as always. Why interfere? Any change will render the sentence of lesser literary quality and value. Please keep your hands off Srila Prabhupada’s prose! He is the one Who was nicknamed by His Godbother’s “kavi”, the poet, and not you!

And what is the necessity of paraphrasing or plagiarising the following four sentences: “Everyone’s selfishness is self-centred. No one is interested in the supreme selfishness of Krishna. Arjuna is supposed to show such ignorance of (personal) selfishness by the will of Krishna. The real selfishness is Vishnu.” There is absolutely no need whatsoever to paraphrase these four sentences as the meaning is all very clear. While forcibly pulling down Prabhupada-Vani on the level of one’s own material conditioning, the editor not only makes himself useless and irrelevant but also becomes an obstacle in accessing Srila Prabhupada. And this is where the line needs to be drawn and counter action needs to be taken. When will we become receptive to Srila Prabhupada’s message AS IT IS, instead of feeling a need to adapt it to our own small conditioned world and mislead everyone else in the process. It is also an insult to the readers for the editor to think they just dont have the intelligence to follow Prabhupada trail of thought and “I, such a great Prabhupada diksha disciple, have to paraphrase Srila Prabhupada for their understanding.” Perhaps the editor lacks preaching contact with the general world, as opposed to the ISKCON world, because after the distribution of 573 000 000 pieces of Prabhupada literatures, people of the world in general are coming closer to Srila Prabhupada big time and might even teach us a few things. Guru is one and sometimes manifests Himself in unexpected ways and manners. I think I made my point and there is no need for further elaboration or examples.

BHAGAVAD-GITA AS IT IS (BGAII) by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Institutor of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT) and Founder of the Back To Godhead magazine (BTG).

What we have:

ONE: We have the Original Transcript (OT). If it weren’t for Madhudvisa Prabhu, who publishes OT on the website “bookchanges.com,” this basic and essential document would have probably never been made public. If that were the case and considering that both available Bhagavad-gita As It Is version one and version two have not only censored Srila Prabhupada heavily but also unnecessarily and extensively plagiarised Him it would amount to a global criminal conspiracy on the part of the trustees of Srila Prabhupada’s literary heritage.

TWO: We have BGAII version one also called the 1972 MacMillan edition, also called Bhagavad-gita As It Is NOT by Hayagriva, also called the mistake infested Bhagavad-gita As It Is.

THREE: WE have BGAII version two, the current official version of ISKCON, even though some ISKCON centres like ISKCON Bangalore, India, seem to brake away from that officialdom. This version is also called Bhavad-gita As It Is NOT by Jayadvaita, or the Jugglery-of-Words-Abacadabra Version.

“Misinterpretation of Bhagavad-gita is chala-dharma. When Krsna directly says something and some rascal interprets it to mean something different, this is chala-dharma — a religious system of cheating — or sabda-bhit, a jugglery of words. One should be extremely careful to avoid these various types of cheating systems of religion. SB 7.15.13

What we need:

Now we need THE PARAMPARA RENDITION OF BHAGAVAD-GITA AS IT IS strictly based on and strictly following OT.

SRILA PRABHUPADA’S QUOTE OF THE DAY: “ARREST THE MIND IMMEDIATELY WITHIN THE CORE OF THE HEART.” SB 7.15.32-33

ARREST THE MIND IMMEDIATELY !!!

pranapanau sannirundhyat pura-kumbhaka-recakaih

yavan manas tyajet kaman sva-nasagra-niriksanah

yato yato nihsarati manah kama-hatam bhramat

tatas tata upahrtya hrdi rundhyac chanair budhah

Word for word translation

prana — incoming breath; apanau — outgoing breath; sannirundhyat — should stop; pura-kumbhaka-recakaih — by inhaling, exhaling and holding, which are technically known as puraka, kumbhaka and recaka; yavat — so long; manah — the mind; tyajet — should give up; kaman — all material desires; sva — one’s own; nasa-agra — the tip of the nose; niriksanah — looking at; yatah yatah — from whatever and wherever; nihsarati — withdraws; manah — the mind; kama-hatam — being defeated by lusty desires; bhramat — wandering; tatah tatah — from here and there; upahrtya — after bringing it back; hrdi — within the core of the heart; rundhyat — should arrest (the mind); sanaih — gradually, by practice; budhah — a learned yogi.

TRANSLATION

While continuously staring at the tip of the nose, a learned yogi practices the breathing exercises through the technical means known as puraka, kumbhaka and recaka — controlling inhalation and exhalation and then stopping them both. In this way the yogi restricts his mind from material attachments and gives up all mental desires. As soon as the mind, being defeated by lusty desires, drifts toward feelings of sense gratification, the yogi should immediately bring it back and arrest it within the core of his heart. SB 7.15.32–33

PURPORT

The practice of yoga is concisely explained herein. When this practice of yoga is perfect, one sees the Supersoul, the Paramatma feature of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, within the core of one’s heart. However, in Bhagavad-gita (6.47) the Supreme Lord says:

yoginam api sarvesam
mad-gatenantaratmana
sraddhavan bhajate yo mam
sa me yuktatamo matah

“Of all yogis, he who always abides in Me with great faith, worshiping Me in transcendental loving service, is most intimately united with Me in yoga and is the highest of all.” A devotee can immediately become a perfect yogi because he practices keeping Krsna constantly within the core of his heart. This is another way to practice yoga easily. The Lord says:

man-mana bhava mad-bhakto
mad-yaji mam namaskuru

“Always think of Me and become My devotee. Worship Me and offer your homage unto Me.” (Bg. 18.65) If one practices devotional service by always keeping Krsna within the core of his heart (man-manah), he immediately becomes a first-class yogi. Furthermore, keeping Krsna within the mind is not a difficult task for the devotee. For an ordinary man in the bodily concept of life, the practice of yoga may be helpful, but one who immediately takes to devotional service can immediately become a perfect yogi without difficulty.

Prabhupada quote of the day:

“Why should one approach a person who is blind with wealth? Rather, one should depend on Krsna, and He will give everything. All the members of our Krsna consciousness movement, whether they be grhasthas or sannyasis, should try to spread the Krsna consciousness movement with determination, and Krsna will supply all necessities. The process of ajagara-vrtti, the means of livelihood of a python, is very much appreciated in this regard. Even though one may be very poor, he should simply try to advance in Krsna consciousness and not endeavor to earn his livelihood. / One who is content and satisfied and who links his activities with the Supreme Personality of Godhead residing in everyone’s heart enjoys transcendental happiness without endeavoring for his livelihood. Where is such happiness for a materialistic man who is impelled by lust and greed and who therefore wanders in all directions with a desire to accumulate wealth?” SB 7.15.15, last lines of purport plus SB 7.15.16.

There are five branches of irreligion, appropriately known as irreligion [vidharma], religious principles for which one is unfit [para-dharma], pretentious religion [abhasa], analogical religion [upadharma] and cheating religion [chala-dharma]. One who is aware of real religious life must abandon these five as irreligious. SB 7.15.12.

Greetings from rained-in New Govardhan – https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PV3bOsNhzEA7AAkrllx7e8xCwAwOk1tT/view?usp=sharing

So

1) Irreligion or vidharma.

Religious principles that obstruct one from following his own religion are called vidharma.

To create a new type of dharma has become fashionable in this age. So-called svamis and yogis support that one may follow any type of religious system, according to one’s own choice, because all systems are ultimately the same. In Srimad-Bhagavatam, however, such fashionable ideas are called vidharma because they go against one’s own religious system. SB 7.15.13

2) Religious principles for which one is unfit or para dharma.

Religious principles introduced by others are called para-dharma. Wfw: Imitating religious systems for which one is unfit.

3) Pretentious religion or abhasa

A pretentious religious system manufactured by one who willfully neglects the prescribed duties of his order of life is called abhasa [a dim reflection or false similarity]. SB 7.15.14

4) Analogical religion or upadharma.

A new type of religion crated by one who is falsely proud and who opposes the principles of the Vedas is called upadharma. Wfw: concocted religious principles.

and 5) Cheating religion or chala-dharma

Interpretation by one’s jugglery of words is called chala-dharma.

Misinterpretation of Bhagavad-gita is chala-dharma. When Krsna directly says something and some rascal interprets it to mean something different, this is chala-dharma — a religious system of cheating — or sabda-bhit, a jugglery of words. One should be extremely careful to avoid these various types of cheating systems of religion. SB 7.15.13

The real religious system is described by the Supreme Personality of Godhead: sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja [Bg. 18.66]. The real religious system is that of surrender to the lotus feet of the Lord. Therefore, anything opposed to this religious system of progressive Krsna consciousness is called vidharma, para-dharma, upadharma or chala-dharma. SB 7.15.13.

“Everything opulent, beautiful and glorious that may exist within the universe, which simultaneously stirs up strong positive feelings within one’s heart , all such manifestations should be understood as only a part-fragment manifestation of Krishna ‘s splendor. Actually they are born of Krishna’s opulence.” Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Version 3, 10.41

Strelitzia /strɛˈlɪtsiə/[1] is a genus of five species of perennial plants, native to South Africa. It belongs to the plant family Strelitziaceae.[2] The genus is named after Queen Charlotte of the United Kingdom. A common name of the genus is bird of paradise flower/plant, because of a resemblance of its flowers to birds-of-paradise. In South Africa, it is commonly known as a crane flower and is featured on the reverse of the 50-cent coin. It is the floral emblem of the City of Los Angeles; two of the species, S. nicolai and S. reginae, are frequently grown as houseplants.[3] Vikipedia
Strelitzia reginae is a species of evergreen tropical herbaceous plant, native to South Africa. Given its own family Strelitziaceae by taxonomists, it is still closely related to bananas (Musaceae). …These regal plants (for which they are named, reginae) are named for the beautiful, orange crane-like flowers that they produce, like birds of paradise.

In the first picture, we see Srila Prabhupada contemplating the beauty of a flower, as an infinitesimal expression of Krishna’s own beauty, opulence and expertise. The second and third pictures show Strelizia Reginae, also called bird of paradise due to its resemblance with the bird of the same name. Many town councils use this attractive plant to beautify parks and streets. When such beauty is displayed in the material world, we may by inference conclude what type of extraordinary beauty is available in the spiritual world, a good reason to make it the target of our life.

“The latest desire man has developed is the desire to travel to other planets. This is also quite natural, because he has the constitutional right to go to any part of the material or spiritual skies. Such travel is very tempting and exciting because these skies are full of unlimited globes of varying qualities, and they are occupied by all types of living entities. The desire to travel there can be fulfilled by the process of yoga, which serves as a means by which one can transfer himself to whatever planet he likes — possibly to planets where life is not only eternal and blissful, but where there are multiple varieties of enjoyable energies. Anyone who can attain the freedom of the spiritual planets need never return to this miserable land of birth, old age, disease and death.
One can attain this stage of perfection very easily by his individual effort. He can simply follow, in his own home, the prescribed method of bhakti-yoga. This method, under proper guidance, is simple and enjoyable. An attempt is made herein to give information to the people in general, and to philosophers and religionists in particular, as to how one can transfer oneself to other planets by this process of bhakti-yoga — the highest of all yogic processes.” EASY JOURNEY TO OTHER PLANETS. Preface.

Translation 10.41

Everything opulent, beautiful and glorious that may exist within the universe, which simultaneously stirs up strong positive feelings within one’s heart , all such manifestations should be understood as only a part-fragment manifestation of Krishna ‘s splendor. Actually they are born of Krishna’s opulence.

Purport

Either in the spiritual or in the material world, any glorious and beautiful existence should be understood as a fragmental manifestation of Krishna’s opulence only. Anything extraordinarily opulent should be considered as a representation of Krishna’s opulence.
